Remembering . . .

On the eve of November 1st
I join keeper and the houndsinheaven
as we stay silent for a few minutes
to remember those who passed away . . .

In the Christian world
November 1 and 2 pays tribute
to the saints and souls of our beloved . . .

In the Pagan world,
the night gets longer
as the soul moves into
that wonderful process
of rebirth . . .
the realm to the spirit world
is open and they roam the earth
seeking old places and haunts . . .

Sadly, the art world
makes a mockery of all these
sacred, transcending traditions
portrayed as silly ghost stories
and scary, freaky movies
made to sell as an inane concept
of a moment they failed to understand. . .


Keeper lights a candle and sings
in tribute to the unseen
and perfect, holy beings
that only a perfect Creator
can create in perfect time . . .


For the moment, our Heaven
down the now quiet RainbowAve
quietly remembers our beloved ones
and the light of the candle
will guide them back
to their earth homes
but only for a while
for soon they will head back
over the rainbow bridge
back to the perfect place
that can only be called Heaven


Come, my dear dear friends
stay a while in our furry nest
as I try to lick your paws
and rub my face into yours . . .
For soon, you will head back
and keeper will send you back
with happy wishes until your next visit
in Samhain and All Souls day.
Truly, I tell you
dogs and animals DO have souls
and they return if only for a while
not to scare us but to remind us
that in our confused, noisy world
lies a perfect place for us
in perfect time . . .

To encourage me to jump start my walks
keeper promised to get me a cool bag
to go with this cool hat . . .

Keeper tells Bogart that he must
learn to wear a hat when he walks.
That is, when Bogart LEARNS to walk
down Rainbow Avenue first
just so he will not get tan and dark.
Er, keeper, Bogart IS dark!
