I am not a Poofer

Let me make this clear:
I do not squeal on a whim.
I was given this assignment by keeper
and that is: to call her attention
when Sumo and Pica tries to mate
or any of the houndsinheaven
including ME for that matter.

Quite a tall order, really.
But it is my Mission Impossible.
And I hold myself responsible
should Pica gets herself pregnant again.

Maybe some of you might ask
why Keeper is doing such a cruel task.
But mind you, it is for everybody's good.
For one, Pica is 112 years old!
And keeper does not want Pica
to go to God Almighty when she's on heat.
(God Almighty is the petshop
where Pica goes on vacation)
The last time Pica was taken to GA
she lost a lot of weight,
not to mention sickly and dying
that keeper promised that she will do
everything possible not to bring Pica
to GA ever again!

The other reason is that keeper
will not allow poor, old Pica
or any of the houndsinheaven
to get spayed or neutered
(castration is such a CRUEL thing, people!)
so never mind the mood swings
but if things can be discussed
like sane, intelligent beings,
WHY NOT?!?

So one hot, summer day
Keeper gathered us into her arms
and told us the real score
about our messy situation.
Guess what: it worked!

So, except for Sumo (kindda stubborn that one)
we can now play and stay out
whether Pica is on heat or not.
Keeper will just remind us "to behave"
and nobody (including Sumo)
would dare break the vow.
Since May 2006 mind you!
This is not a simple mission.
The houndsinheaven have kept their
part of this messy bargain.

So now, while Pica tries her love calls
we just hover and smell, but that's it.
Of course, that is the reason
why I am tasked to keep watch
and remind anybody out of control.
And we do this not because we are afraid of keeper
but we do this because we love each other.

Awww, love can indeed makes us
pretty smart and responsible.
Believe it or not . . . .
